How face grouping works
Effective date: 2026-10-30
What it is for
Face grouping is optional and off until you turn it on. It finds faces in your photos and groups photos of the same person so you can browse and search your own private library by person. That is its only purpose.
What we create
Face data: face measurements (numerical face templates), groups of similar faces, where each face is in the photo, and any names you give the groups. This is biometric information. It is encrypted and kept private to your account.
What we never do
We never sell, rent or share face data, and never use it to train AI models. We never compare faces across accounts, never use them to identify or verify anyone, to guess age, gender or other traits, or for advertising. Face grouping is included on every plan.
Consent and who can use it
Nothing is created until you read a separate consent screen and agree. We ask again if the text or purpose changes. Face grouping is for adults only, and is not offered where you live if that is Quebec, Illinois, Texas or Washington.
How long we keep it
Face data is deleted immediately when you turn face grouping off or delete your account, and automatically after 1 year without signing in. Unnamed single-face groups are deleted after 30 days. Copies in encrypted backups expire within about 14 days. If a legal preservation duty applies, data is kept only for that purpose and then destroyed.
Other people in your photos
Your photos may show other people. Their groups stay private to you and unnamed unless you name them. Anyone, whether or not they use BeeKap, can ask what face data we hold about them or ask for it to be deleted.
How we protect it
Face measurements are encrypted with a key kept outside the database. Only the AI pipeline and named staff with a documented need can reach them. Every destruction is logged without keeping the data.
